Matthew Herrick is a South Florida based serial entrepreneur, angel investor, technology strategist, and advisor. Herrick garnered significant attention around his work in blockchain and distributed ledger technology, advising organizations ranging from the United Nations Development Program, Fortune 500 companies, and municipalities like the City of Miami.
Shortly after graduation, Matthew began working for the acquisition team at a luxury real estate and resort company, Strategic Hotels & Resorts, sparking a love for real estate investing that would follow him throughout his career. Matthew stayed with the company until its acquisition by Blackstone Group in 2015 for $6 billion.
After the acquisition, Matthew stayed in Florida and began actively investing in the local real estate market and startup community. It’s here that Matthew became deeply fascinated with newly emerging blockchain and distributed ledger technology in 2016. This fascination coupled with a deep understanding of the real estate industry drove him to co-found the Deed platform, a real estate brokerage solution later awarded 2018’s Most Innovative Use of Blockchain Technology in Real Estate by the Blockchain World Conference. Deed would go on to network brokerage offices across 215 cities and all 50 states.
After Deed, Herrick co-founded Ledger Leap, where he has since advised some of the country’s most prominent technology and consulting companies, NGOs, exchanges, venture capital firms, and startups. Forbes, Inc Magazine, Entrepreneur, and NASDAQ have highlighted Matthew as one of the foremost experts in enterprise blockchain applications and SaaS. His industry-spanning experience allows him to identify opportunities uniquely and capture value in industry blind spots.
